I will start by stating that no real python was injured in today's creation. Even the inspiration below are all python-friendly. I used a Yves Saint Laurent silk remnant found here, and the end result is 5x5 feet and was entirely hemmed by hand (you know now what I did every evening this week!).
Je commencerai par clarifier qu'aucun vrai python n'a eu à souffrir pour la création d'aujourd'hui. Même les inspirations ci-dessous sont sans vraie peau de serpent. J'ai utilisé une soie Yves Saint Laurent trouvée ici, et le résultat final est de 1.5x1.5m et entièrement ourlé à la main (vous savez maintenant ce que j'ai fais de toutes mes soirées cette semaine!).

Pour de l'inspiration sur comment nouer votre foulard je vous recommande les cartes à nouer d'Hermès, ainsi que les vidéos de Liberty sur leur chaine Youtube "Comment nouer un foulard".

Scarf / Foulard

I made a scarf, but before seeing it you will have to read through my rambling account about my love of Hermès & the Liberty Scarf Hall. The New York Times published a month ago an article about the scarf as the new "it" accessory. Being half French, I am apparently genetically predisposed to own & wear scarves. The more the better, and thankfully there are a few Hermès scarves in the stash. Travelling hasn't helped in recent months since they open a small Hermès shop at the CDG airport. Duty free + Hermès =  and you will get from me a reaction similar to one of a kitty put in front of fresh catnip. My last investment (yes it is something to keep & pass along) is the "Fleurs d'Indiennes" scarf below.
J'ai fait un foulard, mais avant de la voir vous devrez lire ma déclaration d'amour pour le foulard Hermès et le rayon foulard "Scarf Hall" chez Liberty. Un article récent du New York Times souligne le retour du foulard comme l'incontournable accessoire. En tant que "demi" française, j'ai apparemment hérité du gène "foulard" (quel malheur...). J'ai un tiroir bien rempli avec comme il se doit quelques carrés Hermès dans le lot. Mes déplacements récents ont contribué à l'accumulation de ces derniers depuis l'ouverture d'une mini boutique à CDG. Duty free + Hermès provoque une réaction chez moi proche de celle du chat devant de l'herbe à chat. Ci dessous mon dernier investissement (ne doutez pas qu'il s'agit d'un investissement, le carré se garde toute une vie & se transmet) "Fleurs d'Indiennes" ci-dessous.

Another fabulous place to go scarf shopping is the Liberty scarf hall, with a selection that is anything but boring. Liberty also release some great tutorial videos on how to tie your scarf on their Youtube channel (the French accent of their scarf expert has been qualified from anywhere from "charming" to "annoying", if you can't deal with the froggy accent cut the sound the videos are pretty self-explanatory).
Un autre endroit magique pour la shopping de foulard est le "Scarf Hall" de Liberty avec une sélection qui est loin d'être ennuyeuse. Liberty publie aussi des tutos vidéos sur l'art de nouer son foulard sur sa chaine Youtube (l'accent français de l'expert sera qualifié de "charmant" par certains & insupportable par d'autres, si vous êtes dans le camp des "c'est quoi cet accent de froggy" coupez le son c'est clair même sans).




I finally make it to my creation: a 51x51 inches of silk heaven, all hand hemmed (not sure I quite mastered the rolled edge...). I followed the advice of Lauranne Plat, the Liberty scarf expert, when modelling the scarf below.
J'en viens enfin à ma création: 130x130 cm d'un rêve de soie, bords roulottés à la main s'il vous plait (bon je ne maîtrise pas encore...). J'ai suivi les conseils de Lauranne Plat, l'experte foulard de Liberty pour vous montrer mon foulard ci dessous.

Chèche / Scarf

My sister made this maxi patchwork scarf (based on a DIY in the French Elle) it a few weeks ago, and since then I have been drooling (metaphorically) over the result.
Ma soeurette a réalisé le chèche patchwork (basé sur un tuto de Elle) il y a quelques semaines, et depuis je bave (au figuré) dessus.

Basically all you need is 4 squares of fabric (50 x 50cm or 20 x 20 inches for the non metric crowd): I chose 2 prints & 2 solid prints that I alternated when sewing together. And then you just decorate with tassels, sequins, and use this unique opportunity to use up some of the stock of shiny bits you have been hoarding over the past 20 years (me a hoarder?! shiny things... must have it!).
Il vous faut 4 carrés de tissus (50 x 50 cm): j'ai choisi 2 imprimés et 2 unis que j'ai alterné à l'assemblage. Ensuite il suffit de décorer avec pompons, sequins et autres babioles scintillantes glanées depuis plus de 20 ans (ça brille! Il me le faut!!!)

The Ugly Scarf Challenge

Pattern U from the "Stylish Dress Book #2" (without the sleeves)

Fabric: H&M scarf with a somewhat Japanese theme...

The result: better than expected. Added a belt also purchased at H&M that emphasizes the Japanese theme.

The long sleeve version of the same pattern created a few weeks ago. I really love this top!
