Bugs / Bestioles

I got stuck for 7 hours a few months ago in a random midwestern airport, and bought (amongst other things…) these plastic bugs (on sale!) out of boredom. It's a nice selection of creepy crawlies, including a couple of praying mantis I won't be using today (I know it's too bad).
Je me suis retrouvée coincée il y a quelques mois pendant 7 heures dans un aéroport lambda du midwest américain, et morte d'ennui j'ai acheté (en promo!) ces petites bêtes en plastique. C'est une jolie sélection de bestioles qui inclus des mantes religieuses que je ne vais pas utiliser aujourd'hui (je sais c'est dommage).

J'ai décidé de faire une paire de boucles d'oreilles avec les coccinelles.
I decided to make a pair of earrings with the ladybugs.

No huge challenge in creating these: I simply put some Swarovski crystals on the spots & to create the eyes. I also added connectors to the body of the bug to assemble the various pieces of the earring.
Pas de grosses difficultés pour créer celles-ci: j'ai ajouté des cristaux Swarovsky pour les tâches & les yeux. J'ai aussi mis des connecteurs au corps de la bébête pour assembler les différentes parties de la boucle d'oreille.

Arrow / Flèche

A very simple project for this sunday: you will need chain, and arrow charm, and an oval ring (not shown two small connecting rings to link the arrow & the oval to the chain).
Un projet très simple en ce dimanche: il vous faudra de la chaine, un pendentif "flèche", et un anneau ovale (sur la photo il manque deux petits anneaux pour connecter la flèche et l'anneau ovale à la chaine).

I will alter it to add a clasp at the end of the large oval ring. The chain is fairly solid & I have no intention of strangulating my self with one of my creations!
Je vais modifier le collier pour ajouter un fermoir au bout de l'anneau oval. La chaine est plutôt solide, et je n'ai aucunement l'intention de m'étrangler avec une des mes créations!

Prêt à manger & à porter / Ready to eat & to wear

Cookie workshop during the holidays to keep the little ones busy, and to make the very classic French cookie "Petit-Beurre" using the "Atelier Petits Beurre" kit by Bérangère Abraham.

J'ai utilisé la première recette, pour la confection d'un petit beurre classique.
I used the first recipe to make the classic version of the petit-beurre. 

The basic recipe is very simple, you just need the plan about 3 hours to let the dough rest before the cutting of the cookies. "Beurre" in petit-beurre means butter, so not worries you will have no issues in cutting the cookies.
La recette de base du petit-beurre, il faut juste prévoir environ 3 heures de repos pour la pâte avant le découpage. Le bien nommé petit beurre se découpe facilement grâce... au beurre.

Cuisson rapide en 10 minutes, on laisse refroidir, on se sert un verre de lait & on déguste!

Ten minutes in the oven, let the cookies cool off, pour a glass of milk & enjoy!

Verdict: un succès avec toute la famille, allant du "c'est aussi bon que les vrais" des petits au "c'est meilleur que les vrais" des grands.

The critics are in ranging from "they are as good as the real ones" from the little ones to "they are better than the real ones" from the bigger children of the family.

Dans la foulée j'ai confectionné une version non comestible en pâte Fimo dorée.
I could not resist making a non edible version necklace version using gold Fimo clay.

DIY necklace / Tutorial collier

Part 2 with another diy creation using hardware store supplies & yarn to match the bracelet I made yesterday. Today I am attempting some crochet on a chaine.
Deuxième tuto pour une autre création utilisant mes emplettes au magasin de bricolage et de la laine pour aller avec le bracelet d'hier. Je me lance donc dans du crochet sur chaine.

As a self-taught crocheter (does this word even exist?!) I really don't know any of the technical terms, so I am really hoping the pictures will speak for themselves. In the end it's about the inspiration not replication, right?
J'ai appris le crochet toute seule, donc je ne suis pas très au fait des termes techniques. J'espère que les photos vaudront des explications détaillées.

DIY bracelet / Tutorial bracelet

I am a fan of the jewelry created by Aurélie Bidermann and in particular her "Do Brazil" bracelets and necklaces that use colorful threads to add texture to her creations.

Using the idea of mixing colorful threads with jewelry, I went to the local hardware store. And by local I mean the main hardware store in the center of Paris which on a Saturday afternoon is close to a war zone (I was hit by a cart, and almost lost an eye with a near collision with a plastic pipe).
En m'inspirant du mix bijou/fils de couleurs je suis allée au magasin de bricolage local pour le matos (quelle idée inspirée d'aller un samedi après midi au Leroy Merlin à Rambuteau à Paris, je me suis fait heurter par un chariot & presque éborgnée par des tuyaux en PVC).

I was looking originally for chain to crochet the neon yarn on it, but finally settled for metal washers: 22 washers in total in a 7mm diameter. I also used 4 60 cm strands of neon cotton yarn to assemble. 
Au départ je cherchais de la chaine, avec l'idée de crocheter le coton fluo dessus, mais je me suis arrêtée sur des rondelles plates en acier: 22 rondelles de 7 mm pour être exacte. Pour assembler le tout j'ai utilisé 4 morceaux de 60 cm de coton fluo.

Ms Santa's workshop / L'atelier de la Mère Noël

A friend convinced me that we should sell our creations at her neighborhood Christmas market... Only one small little problem: 2 weeks and I need to make it all! Here is the first sample, what do you think?

The flowers are made from Clover's yo-yo maker flower-shaped, which is very easy to use.

Ces fleurs sont faites avec le modèle de yo-yo en forme de fleur de chez Clover, qui est très facile à utiliser.
